Blue Remembered Hills

Inspired by the poem A.E. Housman (English, 1859-1936), where he remembers his youth and expresses his nostalgia for an imagined English country life: “What are those blue remembered hills (…) The happy highways where I went, And cannot come again.”

My interpretation attempts to convey the feeling of the time of evening when dark descends and the lights go on, which is both happy and sad.  It’s the end of the day when we may recap on what happened to us during that day. It’s also the time when children jump about happily, eat their dinner and want their bedtime story.
